Plainfaing

Plainfaing is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called Plainfinois.

Geography

Plainfaing is located at the east of the department, with the foot of the collar of the Catch, between the Saint-Dié-of-Vosges (17 km) and Colmar (41 km). The Meurthe sprinkles the commune coming from the Valtin; it receives, left bank, the brook of the Vallée of Thatch. The forest covers 828 ha. A natural reserve of 505 ha, divided with Valtin, includes/understands the heights of the Tanet and the Gazon of Faing.

History

The creation of the common date of 1783. Previously, its territory was gathered with Fraize. ; Blasonnement: Tiercé in pairle with the 1° of mouths with three aureoles of gold saint, with the gold 2° to the sinople fir tree and the 3° of azure to the cock of gold heather.
the aureoles represent Saint Louis, Saint Nicolas and Saint Genest, particularly honoured in the parish. The Fir tree and the Coq of heather evoke the flora and the fauna of the commune.
