Plain Cities and Local governments (CGLU) is the world main organization of cities.

Born in May 2004 from the fusion of two organizations (IULA and FMCU) joined then by Metropolis, CGLU gathers great national associations of local authorities in 136 countries of the world as well as a very great individually adhering number of cities. CGLU acts in the fields of the local democracy, decentralization and the co-operation decentralized in order to contribute to local development and to improve the urban services (access to water, the habitat, transport, planning, etc).

CGLU also ensures the representation of the local authorities of the world near the international institutions to defend their values (peace, solidarity) and their role in the large files of the world governorship which relate to them. CGLU is engaged in various partnerships with the UNO and some of its agencies. Its seat is with Barcelona.
