Plain-of-Cabbage trees

the Plain-of-Cabbage trees is a common French, located in the department and the area of the Meeting. The common one was creates in 1899 by the detachment of the parish of Holy Agathe of the parish of Saint-Benoît. It of abbord was peublée by small white fleeing poverty in the tops. It holds its name of many the red cabbage trees which were on its territory at that time. Beacoup of these cabbage trees were cut down for their hearts of palm, called Choux cabbage tree S very appreciated by the inhabitants. Today this tree is protected but it does not remain about it much any more on the territory of the commune.

Its inhabitants is called Palmiplainois.

Geography

The communal territory is entirely located in the Tops of the island. He are bordering those on Saint-Benoît, Holy-Rose and the Tampon.

History

The common one was created in 1899.

Infrastructures

One finds on the communal territory a public college, the college Gaston Crochet, which counted 300 pupils with the re-entry 2005. There is no college.

Economy

The commune organizes each year in June a Fête around the guava tree and of the dairy products.
