Place P2
Propaganda Due (P2) is the name of a maconnic cabin Italian, prohibited following its discovery in 1981. It was directed by Licio Gelli.
Political scandals
In May 1981, the Italian government resigns following the disclosure of a list: that of the members of the P2 cabin in which appear of many political personalities resulting from the party in power (democratic Christians).
Was the activities of the P2 cabin were thus of a punishable nature to cause the dismissal of a government, but really a maconnic cabin?
The P2 cabin draws its name from a maconnic cabin created in 1877: the Cabin Propaganda Massonica. This cabin did not have anything secrecy bus of the eminent characters formed of it part like Zanardelli, Minister for Justice or the poet Carducci. The “propaganda” of this cabin consisted in diffusing the maconnic values (progress, Laïcité and Liberté) through the political institutions and citizens.
When Mussolini prohibits the Franc-maçonnerie in 1925, the freemasons exiled themselves in France. The cabin Propaganda Massonica was the pillar of the principal Italian obedience: the Great East of Italy. Cabin “PM” was thus one of the symbols of the Italian Republic in exile. With the Release, cabin “PM” initiated men who, officially, represented the opposition to freemasonry: Christian Communists, catholics and democrats. These men were attracted by the historical prestige of freemasonry but were to enter a cabin secretly not to be likely to be rejected by their movement of membership.
Cabin “PM” found an interest in the reception of the catholic and of the Communistes because it could thus attenuate the social competitions. Indeed, it joined together around the ideal maconnic of the men who, without Masonry, would never have gotten along.
Cabin “PM” started to deviate of the ideal maconnic with the arrival of certain Licio Gelli, which became the secretary about it. Gelli served the fascistic mode during the Second world war. Today still, it is difficult to explain what pushed Italian Masonry to accept such a man. It is thus into 1964 that Gelli was initiated, it entered to cabin “PM” a few years later. In 1975, Licio Gelli became “worthy” (i.e. president) of cabin “PM”. From this period, the cabin was renamed Propaganda Massonica n°2 or “P2”. From 1971 to 1979, the Italian Communist party was with its apogee while taking part in the majority governmental. Gelli could not support this situation and militated for a return to the authority with measurements like the re-establishment of the Capital punishment and the limitation of the Right to strike in the Public office. It was about the program of only one man and absolutely not that of the Great East of Italy. The many soldiers, managers of undertakings, politicians and journalists who asked to join the cabin of Gelli understood that the “P2” did not propose any more one humanistic program maconnic but a ultra-preserving philosophy.
October 5th, 1980, It Corriere beyond Will be publishes an interview in which Gelli presents its ideas and tries to present it like a project of freemasonry. By this error the Great East of Italy holds the proof then that Gelli had betrayed the ideal maconnic. Gelli was thus excluded from the Great East in 1981.
Bonds with the mode peronist in Argentina
Licio Gelli often praised bonds with Juan Peron, the Argentinian caudillo . In fact, on the list of the “piduists” (members of P2) discovered with the beginning of the year 1980, several members of the junta of Jorge Videla were quoted there, inter alia Jose Lopez Rega, the founder of the “Triple has” (“Alliance Argentinian anticommunist”), person in charge of the massacre of the airport of Ezeiza, when snipers shot at crowd from young peronists from left, engaging the scission between the left peronist and the right peronist.
Theories of the plot
The P2 Cabin was shown to have taken part, at the sides of the network Gladio, with the “Stratégie of the tension” aiming at “preventing, according to the terms of a parliamentary report written in 2000 by the coalition of Olivo , the Italian Communist party and, to a lesser extent, the Italian Socialist party to reach the executive power”.
The list of the members of P2, discovered in 1981 in a villa of Licio Gelli, counted many personalities, of which entirety of the chiefs of the various Italian secret services (SISMI, etc), many policies (whose Silvio Berlusconi, condemned for perjury to have denied its membership but which since profited from regulation), of the journalists, of the magistrates, the banker of God Roberto Calvi, the gangster Michele Sindona, Jose Lopez Rega, the Argentinian founder of the “Triple has”, Raúl Alberto Lastiri, and Emilio Eduardo Massera, who took part in the junta of Jorge Rafael Videla…
Many Théories of the plot on the death of Jean-Paul I makes responsible the P2 cabin.
The P2 cabin was evoked in the investigations carrying into a series of businesses (executions of magistrates, attack of the station of Bologna in 1980, assassination of a journalist). The role of the P2 cabin in very many businesses is still object of speculation often conspirationnists, supplied with the declarations of Licio Gelli itself.
Real statute compared to freemasonry
Actually, the P2 cabin was not a maconnic cabin. Indeed, so that a cabin can practice the values which are those of freemasonry since the 18th century (solidarity, Tolérance, equality), it is necessary that it limits its members to about fifty brothers or sisters. However P2 recorded more than two thousand members. Moreover, so that fraternity binds the members of a cabin, it is necessary that those are côtoient regularly. It was not the case with the P2 cabin whose associates did not know each other (see cédérom Monde which gathers several articles on this subject with the search engine “titrates = P2 cabin”).
Lastly, freemasonry being an initiatory company, it is essential that each brother can receive initiation and the maconnic instruction. Such was not the case in P2 since its members did not meet and that they “were created masons” not in a temple but in the office of Gelli.
Licio Gelli by autoproclamant “Large-Master of the P2 cabin” was, in fact, detached of the Great East of Italy while its cabin was declared clandestine by the maconnic high authorities.
In spite of that the general public confused P2 cabin and freemasonry. Pertini, the President of the Republic declared that he would lay off very employed Quirinal if he were mason.
Today still, Italian freemasonry is regarded as a “Mafia” by a great number of Italians.
