Pléonexie
The pléonexie (of the Greek pleonezia ) is the desire to have more than the others in any thing. This results in practice in the fact of taking always more than what returns to us, or less, when the object proves to be ungrateful.
This term is in particular used by Marcel Mauss in his Essai on the seasonal variations of the companies eskimos/Etude of social morphology : “Rink says to us that people of a station jealously take care that no one has nothing any more but the others; when the case occurs, the surplus, fixed arbitrarily, turns over to those which have less. This horror of the pléonexie also is very developed in the central areas. ” (" Sociology and Anthropologie" of Marcel Mauss. edition PUF. June 1991. page 467).
