Pittacos de Mytilène
Pittacos (in Greek old Πιττακός/ Pittakós ), born towards worms 650 with Mytilène, in the island of Lesbos, and died towards 570 av. J. - C., Greek statesman, one of the “wise Seven” of the Antiquity.
Biography
It was the example even of prudence and was a political character who was characterized by his reserve, his discretion and by his political honesty. It granted even freedom to the assassin of its son, while alleging that “forgiveness is better than the repentance”. Its significant political competences are proven by the many legislations, of which he was the author. One distinguishes inter alia the law imposing a double sorrow for any infringement made in a state from intoxication.
