Pitigliano
Pitigliano is a common of the Province of Grosseto in Toscane (Italy).
Geography
Pitigliano is in Maremme.
Description
In overhang of the throats of Slow, Pitigliano is fixed on a cliff of Tuf. The network of its lanes lets guess the print of the last one: Etruscan necropoles cut in the rock, Roman ruins, medieval houses, churches baroques, but also vestiges of the Jewish ghetto, called the " small Jérusalem". Protected by the Orisini, then the Médicis, a Jewish community had indeed found refuge in the city in XVIe century. Today, Pitigliano is turned towards the vineyards which, thanks to its natural cellars, made its reputation.
