Piter de Vries is a character of fiction Cycle of Dune, of Frank Herbert.
During Mentat - assassin Thufir Hawat of the House Atréides, Piter de Vries is the Mentat twisted of the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. Piter is described as being small, gracile, with the effeminate features with a stentorian voice enriched by a musical and soft quality . Although it has the blue eyes on blue of Ibad, Piter is not a native of Arrakis, but a creation of the Masters geneticists of the Bene Tleilax, a twisted mentat doped with the Épice, that according to the Baron, it enjoys like a delicacy . Nevertheless it with water the inflated flesh of nona Fremen. It appears with the eyes of the Baron like efficient but also emotive, inclined with fits of anger. Efficient but capable of error (Dune p. 30).
It shows of one surprising familiarity with cruel the Baron, which it seems besides not to fear so much so that this last even plans to get rid of him for lack of honesty. Like good Harkonnen, he is crafty one and malevolent ( it is only a degenerated Mentat , Dune, Jessica p.257). He does not hesitate either to be ironic when he judges it good ( I am thus in scene to some extent, known as Piter. Is it necessary that I dance? Perhaps should I achieve some of my turns for eminent the Feyd-Rautha? , Dune, p.31). It is also sadistic ( you should have been Bashar of a body of Sardaukar. Blood and the suffering are so pleasant for you. known as the Baron , Dune, p.29).
Its insolence is all the more remarkable as it is perfectly conscious of being eminently replaceable, at the thank you of a new ordering of its employer to the Bene Tleilax when the weather “is his time”, which at the Harkonnen undoubtedly does not imply that it is quite old for as much.
