The pitches ( Tenrec ecaudatus ) is small a Insectivore resembling the Hérisson originating in Madagascar. One finds it today also with the the Comoros, Mauritius and the Réunion.
It is a thorny animal with the long fine muzzle, without tail, which has manners of the Hérisson and can, like him, to put itself in ball. It is terrestrial and night.
It is also called tanrec (or “tenrec”), of the Madagascan tandraka , or hedgehog of Madagascar .
