Piscop

Piscop is a common French, located in the department of the Val-d'Oise and the area Île-de-France. Its inhabitants is called Piscopiens.

Geography

Piscop preserved in spite of the proximity of Paris (less than 15 km) and of Sarcelles (3km) a very rural aspect. Located at hillside dominating the flat of France, the village is crowned by the Forêt of Montmorency.

The commune is bordering on Saint-Brice-under-Forest, Ecouen, Ézanville, Domont and Montmorency.

History

The origin of the name would come from the verb “to piss” and “cock”.

Composed of several hamlets, the stronghold was offered by Clovis to the bishop Remi. A castle (disappeared) is built at the 12th century by the knight Anselme de Pissecoc, lord of the pledged place in Montmorency. At the 14th century, the grounds of Piscop are divided in several independent strongholds. With 19th and 20th centuries, second home is built in the village, but common preserve, in spite of the strong push of the urbanization known by the common neighbors an always village aspect.
