Pirelli
Pirelli is a manufacturer pneumatic Italy N of S, carrying on four great activities: the tires (5th world producer), the cable S and systems for the electrical energy (1st world producer), cables and systems for the Telecommunications (4th world producer), the Real (1st in Italy, activity carried out by the Pirelli subsidiary company & C. Real Estate, controlled with 61,1 %), and present industrially in 25 countries.
The turnover of the group is of approximately 6 billion euros (2003) and the manpower employed of 36 000 paid. The capital is very dispersed, with a presence with height of 15 % of Italian institutional investors. The company was created in 1872 with Milan by young a 24 year old engineer: Giovanni Battista Pirelli.
No one not being prophet in his country, it is not Pirelli which equips the single-seaters with formula 1 Ferrari, but Bridgestone (after Michelin and Firestone). On the other hand the Pirelli mark appears among the world leaders of the automobile sport and is present in the competitions circuit with its PZero range and in rally while being the exclusive supplier of WRC as from 2008. The service competition is directed to France and Europe of the South by Gaetan Guillemot.
Pirelli is also the official sponsor of the Inter Milan, the Milanese football club.
Each year in November, for 40 years, the publication of the Calendrier Pirelli has been an event very awaited by the collectors and the amateurs of photograph, mode and seduction.
