Piratuba

Piratuba is a city Brésil ienne west of the State of Santa Catarina. It is located by a Latitude of 27º 25 ' 11" south and by a Longitude of 51º 46 ' 19" west, with a Altitude of 430 meters. Its population was estimated at: 6479 inhabitants in 2006. The municipality extends on 146 km ².

History

The history of Piratuba starts in 1910, with the construction of the railway São Paulo - Rio Grande C Sul. The company responsible for work, the " Brazil Railway" , in the area a camping for the workmen went up which will be then baptized Vila C Rio C Peixe .

In 1964, during excavations in the search of Oil, the company Petrobrás located a thermal sheet of water to more than 674 m of depth. This water attièrent of many tourists with Piratuba. Summer or winter, water of Piratuba always spouts out with 38,6°C.

In addition to their use for the leisure, this water also has therapeutic properties.

Tourism

The thermal spring discovery sulfurous, with the rich person properties mineral and therapeutic, involved the creation of a complex of Balnéothérapie, directed by the Companhia Hidromineral de Piratuba . The city is known today in all the country. A warm water jet 30 m height is the principal tourist attraction of Piratuba. Located in the valley of the Rio C Peixe, Piratuba also proposes activities of full nature like the practice of the Trekking or the walks in the boat on the artificial lake of the hydro-electric factory of Machadinho.

Culture

Various festivals animate the city throughout the year. In January proceeds Kerbfest and the Night of Hawaii; in February, the festival of the birthday of the city; in March, the FECAPI, the Night Italian and the Festa C Agricultor ; in September the Semana Farroupilha ; in November the opening of the season of summer; in December the ball of Midnight supper and Christmas of Lumière. Sundays and bank holidays is held a demonstration of the water jet which reaches 30 m height under natural pressure.
