The concept of piqué is used in Photographie and with the Cinéma to indicate the quality of precision of an image.
The more important piqué of an image will be, the more the impression of clearness will be large.
One generally associates piqué with the resolution of the image, whereas this concept more largely relates to the capacity of equipment of catch of sight to be emphasized the details.
On a film, piqué is expressed in traits/mm, i.e. the number of black features which it is possible to distinguish with a sufficient Contraste. In Video, the same concept is expressed by the number of lines TV. Piqué generally corresponds to the performances of a unit strips/camera/objective.
