Pépin of Landen known as Pépin the Old man (born towards 580 - died the February 27th 639) was Maire of the palate of Austrasie starting from 615 pennies three kings Mérovingiens but Dagobert Ier withdrew the station into 629 to him. It took it again with dead of the king in 639.

It had a vast domain in Austrasie, of some 7.800 hectares on the territory of the current town of Nivelles and of the surrounding villages.

He marries Itta (or Iduberge or Ide), originating in Aquitaine,

By his daughter Begga (620 - 695), he was the ancestor of the Pépinides who gave rise to the Carolingian dynasty .

His/her other daughter Gertrude de Nivelles (626 - 659) was the first abbess of Nivelles and is owner of Landen.

It appointed his son Grimoald (616 - 656) mayor of the palate; this last was assassinated with Paris after having usurped the royal function. He is regarded as a saint.

His/her oldest son was the Count Allowyn of Hesbaye, which converts with Christianity under the influence of Saint Amand, and which is more known under the name of Saint Bavon. He died in Ghent in 654.
