Pioneers

the Pioneers (or " Galia Boys") is the name given to the first French selection of Rugby to XIII, left in round in England in March 1934.

History

This round, whereas no Federation existed for this new handset of Rugby, is the true first official sporting event undertaken by Rugby with XIII of and in France via the international scene. The team gathered by Jean Galia is made up players of the Rugby to XV in delicacy with or discharged world quinzist of which: Robert Samatan, Jean Duhau, François Recaborde, Charles Petit, Antonin Barbazanges.

She will remain, apart from a ridiculous sporting aspect, the fundamental base of the future play in France.

The Pioneers, bound by contract to Jean Galia, will ensure the technical base of future associations and the framework of the representative teams which will be born a few months afterwards.

All the Pioneers were high with the row of member with life of the Federation. One had allotted to them in 1937, the day of France - Empire British, the medal of the town of Paris and, in 1959 the medal of recognition of the Federation.
