Pink agent
Agent Pink is the code name of powerful a Herbicide and Défoliant used by the American Armée during the Opération Ranch Hand during the Guerre with Vietnam.
Its name comes from the pink green band on the barrels to identify the contents. It belonged to the " weedkillers rainbow " , among which amongst other things Orange Agent celebrates it. Agent Pink was used only between 1962 and 1964, at the beginning of the trial period of the program of pulverization.
The only ingredient of Pink Agent was the acid 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic (2,4,5-T), a Herbicide very much used at the time. It was learned later that a Dioxine, 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-para-dioxin (TCDD), was produced during the development of 2,4,5-T, and that one found some then in all the weedkillers made up of this acid. As the Pink Agent was made up only of 2,4,5-T, like the Green Agent besides, it contained a dioxane rate much higher than the Orange Agent.
The mushroom Fusarium oxysporum is also called Green Agent .
