Pink Martini

Pink Martini is an American group of twelve musicians of Portland (Oregon) characterized by a musical style mixing retro influences, Jazz, latino, Lounge, traditional, like by texts sung in English, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and even in Japanese like in Greek modern.

Biography

Formed in 1994, the group occurs in concert all around the world during its first three years of existence.

Their first album ( Sympathetic nerve ) leaves in 1997 and obtains a double Disque of gold in France.

Since the group does not cease giving concerts to the four corners of the the United States with some escapades in the rest of the world.

The second album ( Hang one Little Tomato ) leaves finally in October 2004 after being pushed back many times.

The two dominant figures of the group are:

  • the singer Clouded Forbes, graduate Cum laude of Harvard, which obtained the price Jonathan Levy as an actress, and who is made known general public by interpreting the song of the credits of the Televised series Clueless, drawn from film of the same name. Since 1998, she lives in Portland, and is married with Creg Valline, an optician whose shop is also used as art gallery;
  • the pianist Thomas Mr. Lauderdale, graduate him-also Cum laude of Harvard, in literature and history, the founder, artistic director and arranger of the group.
