Pink Eden
Following the example many provincial artists, the clavierist Henri Garella and the bass player Christian Clairefond go up to Paris with the firm hope to record an album. Both have an intense activity of studio and made together the first part of the rounds of mythical Claude François into 1965 within the group the GARDIANS. They played a few pieces in curtain raiser then accompanied by the singers by the time like Guy Mardel and Herve Villard.
After the recording of four individual, it made common cause within the orchestra of varieties which accompanied " Tender yearses and Heads of Bois" , a tele emission which was very popular during the Sixties. Then they meet the beater Michel Julien in Marseilles and play with him within the unit the GOLDENS DELICIOUS. On the councils of the artistic director of Katema (a small label directed by an industrialist of the electric household appliances, large music lover), our three accomplices come into contact with the famous guitarist Jean-Pierre Alarcen, who was known at the time like one of the guitarists most endowed with his generation, having in particular collaborated with the popular singer Jacques Dutronc and SYSTEM CRAPOUTCHIK. PINK EDEN was born!
The recording of " One the Way to Eden" in March 1970 began. This album was recorded in a very spontaneous way, generally into live in the studio located at 10, rue Washington in Paris. The music revealed here is connected with a typical instrumental blues-rock'n'roll of the time, fact of long developments centered primarily on the sounds of the Hammond organ but already strongly marked by the influences of the Progressif rock'n'roll. Unfortunately, relations with the producer enveniment, so much so that the musicians do not even take part in the mixing of their own album! This one thus appears in 1970 on the label Katema, Sonopress distribution.
The group leaves in round in all France, and expatriate a time to play in a club of Oran (Algeria). No indication (nor royalties!) was not provided to the musicians as for the results of the sales of " One the Way to Eden". " Travelling" was even used as code for a television program of the time. Some time after, the group decides to separate…
They decide nevertheless a little later to form SANDROSE by keeping the same formation and by engaging the singer Pink Podwojny, better known today under the name of Pink Laurens. The group will become one of the most popular formations of French progressive rock'n'roll of the years 1970. After SANDROSE and thanks to the musical talents of each one, the musicians will work on their side with celebrities such as France Gall, Josephine Baker, Gilbert Bécaud, Sachal Distel, Michel Petrucciani…
In 2006 the label of French discs Sausage Records republishes in 45 turns two pieces " Faster and Faster" and " Feeling in the Living" resulting from the album " One the Way to Eden".
