Pini Gershon
Pinhas Gershon , born the November 11th 1951, is a trainer Israel IEN of Basket-ball
Regarded as one of the largest trainer Europeans, it very early begins a career from trainer after a career of player. It with the reputation to be an intelligent and skilful trainer. But it is also known for a strong character which often sees it being opposed to the executive teams or to the players.
At the time of the season 1992 - 93, it leads its team of the Hapoel Galil Elyon to the national title, putting thus fine at the continuous domination Maccabi Tel-Aviv. It remport a new trophy in 1996 with the cut, always vis-a-vis Maccabi.
In 1998, it is named with the head of the large club israëlien, the Maccabi Tel-Aviv. This arrival constitutes a surprise: it was one before fervant opponent with this club, reproaching him absolute control that this one has on the basketball israëlien. It gains three championships. But the largest trophy is acquired on the European scene. After a first final lost vis-a-vis the Panathinaïkos at the time of the edition 2000, first participation in the Final Furnace of Maccabi since 1991, it gains the Suproligue 2001 in a final which is the revenge of the preceding edition. This trophé however is devaluated by the existence this year there of two major competitions, the Euroligue and Suproligue. However the pluspart of the large European clubs, except for Panathinaïkos and of Maccabi, disputed Euroligue.
It must then leave its functions of trainer because of racist remarks made against the Afro-américains players: even among the Blacks, there are various colors. There are the dark black and the " moka". " mokas" are more malignant and the " blacks sombres" come from the street. Those which are small métissés as Andrew Kennedy… you notice its statute, its personality (...). The other Blacks are true idiots
In spite of its reputation, Maccabi reinstalls it in its functions as from the season 2003 - 04 after the poor results of the club on the European level. The club joins again with the Final Furnace. This one, disputed in residence, sees Maccabi getting rid of CSKA Moscow in semi-final before crushing the Fortitudo Bologna finally. The European title is confirmed the following season after a victory vis-a-vis Panathinaïkos in half, then a victory vis-a-vis Spanish of the Tau Vitoria who eliminated the favorites from the competition, the CSKA Moscow, which evolved/moved in residence.
the CSKA Moscow will take its revenge in 2006, thus preventing Maccabi from gaining a troisème consecutive title.
It joined for the following season the Greek club of the Olympiakos.
