Pines of Rome
the Pines of Rome ( I Pini di Roma ) is a Symphonic poem composed in 1924 by Ottorino Respighi.
Like the Fountains of Rome , made up work in 1916, it is divided into four parts evoking various places and atmospheres of the city and its surroundings:
- I pini beyond Villa Borghese , illustrating rounds and sets of children, in the gardens of the Villa Borghèse,
- Pini presso una catacomba , crescendo and decrescendo of a melody melancholic person, resulting from the Catacombs,
- Pini del Gianicolo , the night on the Janicule, the rustle of the branches and the song of a Nightingale (recording on disc or magnetic band),
- I pini beyond Via Appia , on the paving stones of the Way Appienne, an initially remote walk, approaches and of the triumphing armies ravel towards the Capitole.
Respighi composed in 1928, a third symphonic poem evoking Rome, Roman Fêtes .
This work was illustrated by Disney in cartoon film Fantasia 2000.
