Formerly called chenin black , the pineau of Aunis is a Cépage of Vigne known and planted in France since the Antiquité. It is the oldest type of vine of the Loire (see Viticulture in France)
In France, the culture of the pineau of Aunis extends on approximately 1.000 ha, mainly in the the Loire Valley.
It is a vigorous, fertile type of vine but which becomes exhausted quickly. The wines obtained are coloured little being able to consume itself quickly. For his Flavor S, one often evokes the Framboise and the Poivre.
