Pinchas Zukerman

Pinchas Zukerman (born the July 16th 1948 with Tel Aviv) is a Violoniste, Altiste and Leader Israel IEN.

Biography

It starts with his father, musician Klezmer, the study of the Recorder and the Clarinette. It enters then to the academy of Tel-Aviv the class of Violon of Ilona Feher where it is noticed by the violonist Isaac Stern and the violoncellist Pablo Casals. With their support (and that of different artistic foundations), it leaves into 1962 to improve with the the United States, with the Juilliard School in the class of Ivan Galamian. In 1967, its first price with the 25e international Concours Leventritt launches its career of soloist and chambrist: its musical partners will be called from now on Daniel Barenboim, Itzhak Perlman, Vladimir Ashkenazy…

In parallel, it also undertakes an intense activity of leader:

From 1980 to 1987, he is director of the Chamber orchestra of Saint-Paul (in the American State of the Minnesota) and, since April 1998, he is Musical director of the Orchestre of the National center of Arts ( National Arts Center Orchestrated ) Ottawa, center with which he launched several teaching projects near the young Canadian musicians.

Also teaching with the Manhattan School off Music, it has the appearance of a precursor by using the Vidéoconférence and Internet to give certain courses.

Its discography counts more than one hundred of discs, of which two were reward by Grammy Awards.

He was married of 1985 to 1998 with the American actress Tuesday Weld.
