Pin-table football

The pin-table football (called kicker in Belgium, table soccer or foosball in English) is a Football of table which is generally played two teams of two and sometimes with against one. The table, named it also pin-table football, consists of a plate representing the ground, above which eight bars move which support the eleven figurines of each team called players . Each side can thus actuate four bars:

  • a bar supporting three fronts (it faces the unfavourable defenders);
  • a bar supporting five half corresponding to the medium grounds (it faces the unfavourable halves);
  • a bar supporting two defenders (it faces the unfavourable fronts);
  • a bar supporting the goalkeeper.

At each end of the plate, the goal is sheltered by a cage, behind which is fixed the counting frame being used for the calculation of the points. The ball can be out of cork or plastic. Enough frequently the corners table comprises ashtrays.

History

The invention of pin-table football is not precisely given. It would seem that he was invented simultaneously in France and Germany in the years 1880-1890. Many patents were deposited at the beginning of the 20th century. Certain historians say that pin-table football would have been invented by Lucien Rosengart and is patented by the Spanish poet Alejandro Finisterre in 1937. However, there exist many patents or drawings largely former to this date. He is played in practically the whole world. Regional, national and international competitions are organized each week.

There exists a great number of tables of plays, amongst other things because the play developed in a disorganized way. Each area or country has its own table of plays, its own rules. The ITSF (International Soccer Federation Counts) currently tries to harmonize the rules of plays and the styles of tables.

In certain countries, the number of players taking part regularly in the regional and national competitions is rather important, as in Italy (20000), in Spain (10000), in Belgium (6000), in Germany, Suisse or France (1000). The best player in the world is called Frederic Collignon , and is of Belgian nationality. He gained, during the 5 last years, practically all the great international championships, that is the championships of the world in Paris and the United States or the championships of Europe in Switzerland, Austria or Belgium. He is the only player in the world to have gained on all the tables recognized by the ITSF, in the United States as on the old continent.

Rules

The rules vary from one country to another and area to another. As from January 2007, the rules will be the same ones in all the countries:

In a general way, a team marks a point when the ball penetrates with an unfavourable aim, but certain goals can be declared invalid according to the adopted rules. After a goal, engagement is carried out at the level of the halves by the team having boxed it (in France in particular) or on the level of the line of centers (in Germany for example).

If no player can reach the ball, it is given concerned:

  • on the level of one of the corners of the ground if it is located between the line of goal and the fronts;
  • at the median level if not.

In France

Rules of coffees

  • In France, the part finishes at the end of eleven balls. The gaining team is then that which has the greatest number of points. If the two teams have the same score (possible with the rules of the fishing and the mess tin , cf below), the team having marked the last point gains the part. A certain number of additional rules limit the authorized blows:
  • half : the marked goals of the halves are not valid but count double on the re-enlisting.
  • washing bottle : the goals marked with the side fronts right-hand side are not authorized except within the framework of a fishing.
  • caster : it is not authorized to carry out one or more fast rotations with the bars or to release the handles.
  • rake : it is not authorized to deviate the ball played by the unfavourable halves with its own halves, but only to recover it (control) or to counter it (reference forwards). If the ball is recovered all the same by the unfavourable attackers, the play continues. If not, it is given concerned by the unfavourable halves. To the third consecutive rake, the ball is then given to the unfavourable attackers.
  • taken again : the goals marked without control of the ball are invalid when this one comes from the back of the line of the fronts. This rule is not universally adopted.
  • blow of bourrin : it is not authorized to play a ball of the halves, to make it rebound on the line of the goal and to recover it with the fronts. The ball is then reintroduced on the level of the halves. This rule remains not very widespread.
  • In the plays with against one, the goals marked with band or deviated by a player who was not put in action are not valid. This use is variously accepted.

The counting of the points comprises some nonobvious rules which make it possible to add or remove a certain number of points to the one of the teams, according to the local rules:

  • half : the goal marked after a goal (invalid) marked halves is worth double;
  • mess tin : when the ball penetrates with an unfavourable aim and out of spring;
  • fishing : when the ball penetrates with an unfavourable aim and that one of the members of the assailing team catches up with the ball before this one does not disappear in the mechanism from pin-table football (it goes to fishing or fishes out );
  • cendar : when the ball will be placed in one of the two ashtrays located beside the goals;
  • Cap : when the ball enters with an aim while passing over the bar of the guard;
  • Royal Mess tin or Tunnel or magic Cauldron : When the team marks a goal and that the ball crosses pin-table football to finally arise by its own goal (possible only if the goals are connected);
  • Gordon : When the team marks a goal with her guard without the ball being touched by no player nor whom it rebounded on the edges of the table (he is necessary also that the player announces " Gordon" two seconds before carrying it out).
