The sector is delimited by the station of Victoria in the north and the Thames in the south, spanned by Vauxhall Bridge, which gives easy access to Vauxhall. The whole zone was formerly had by the family of Grosvenor.

The great majority of the buildings in Pimlico are residential and were conceived by the architect Thomas Cubitt. A statue of Cubitt can be seen in the sector.

The notable residents included Sir Winston Churchill, Laura Ashley and Swami Vivekananda.
