Piloting of a road project
The project, with each stage of its realization can have to evolve/move, to undergo modifications. In any event, it will require stages of validation, decision makings. A steering committee created at the origin of the project must be guaranteeing the engagements validated by the program for example. It will be composed representatives of the control of work, of the director of project, possibly of partners of the project.

The planning and the scheduling of the project
Planning makes it possible to define work to be realized, to lay down objectives, to coordinate the actions, to control the means, to decrease the risks, to follow the actions in progress, to give an account of the progress report of the project.
The planning of the road project is initialized at the beginning of the project and update during all its lifespan. The same project can be the subject of several plannings.
The bar chart is a tool making it possible to plan the project and to make simpler the follow-up of its advance. It gives a chart of the advance of the project, but it is also good means of communication between the various actors of the project.
This type of modeling is particularly easy to implement with a simple spreadsheet but there exist specialized tools of which most known is Microsoft ms Project. There in addition exist equivalents free (and free) of this type of software.
Each task or stage of the procedure is represented by a line, while the columns represent the days, weeks or month of the calendar according to the duration of the project. The time estimated for a task is modelled by a horizontal bar whose left end is positioned on the date envisaged of starting and the right end on the date envisaged of end of realization. The tasks can be connected sequentially or to be carried out in parallel. Progressively of the advance of a task, the bar representing it is filled proportionally with its degree with achievement.
