Composition

The thwart is generally composed of a fine envelope of fabric, stuffed of a marrowy matter.

Wrap

The envelope of the pillows with feathers (cf Stuffing) is generally out of vegetable fabric (cotton, flax), because the points of the feathers can damage the synthetic matters . The envelope of the pillows with synthetic stuffings is generally out of synthetic matter (75%) and in Coton (25%).

The pillows are almost always equipped with a cloth, second removable envelope and out of vegetable fabric, called Taie, in order to absorb body secretions in a preoccupation with a hygiene.

Stuffing

One distinguishes two great types of different stuffings.

The pillows with feathers are stuffed with sleeping bag (small feathers which take part in the thermo isolation of the birds, often lower than 3 cm).

The pillows known as synthetic are stuffed using synthetic matters, which can differ by their nature: one will distinguish the synthetic matter agglomerates, economic, and foams high density, which allow the formation of ergonomic pillows .

The electronic pillow consists of three layers of different materials, and the sensor is integrated in the deepest layer which is made in polyvinyl chloride which allows an optimal comfort.

In the past the pillows were sometimes stuffed using old rags.

Hygiene and maintenance

The pillows and the thwarts require a regular maintenance in order to preserve their qualities of supports. Nevertheless their composition imposes different treatments.

The pillows with feathers should never be washed. Indeed, their density and the character Imperméable of the feathers will cause a retention of water, being able to cause a Moisissure, while a dry washing will weaken the feathers. This type of pillow is a nest with Acarien S, which naturally maintains its hygiene by nourishing human secretions. Only maintenance necessary for the pillows to feathers is to strongly shake them to air them and homogenize the provision of the feathers, at a rate of once per week.

The synthetic pillows can be washed, by scrupulously observing the conditions mentioned on the labels. Indeed, heat and the products Détergent S can deteriorate synthetic stuffing definitively. Most of the time, a simple washing with clear water, a temperature of 40°C, is enough to clean the synthetic pillows their impurities or acarina. Only the pillows with synthetic agglomerates require to be shaken regularly to homogenize their composition.

Specific qualities with the compositions

Various natures of composition of the pillows require a scrupulous choice as for their conditions of use.

The pillows with feathers are generally marrowy and retain human heat. Their lifespan is considerable, and can exceed 10 years if the maintenance and conditions of use lend themselves to it. The pillows with feathers adapt to the shape of the head and are good sound insulators. They can moreover be easily adapted to the wish of comfort of each one by modifying the density of the feathers. On the other hand, their composition largely supports the proliferation of the acarina and they are thus disadvised about allergic .

The pillows with synthetic agglomerates are often stuffed using industrial synthetic fiber waste. They are economic, but their comfort is quickly faded after a few months of use: these fibers, under the effect of the body pressure, form agglomerates which are densifient and are hétérogénéisent. These pillows are generally fine and soft.

Lastly, the ergonomic pillows, with synthetic foam, are specific: they generally meet a medical need, in order to prevent the risks of deformation of the Spinal column. The majority adopt the shape of vagueness, supporting the vertebral straightness by maintaining the head in rock bottom. The ergonomic pillows are rather expensive and become deformed under the effect of the body pressure.
