Pilgrimage in the island of Cythère
The Pèlerinage in the island of Cythère is a table of Antoine Watteau, carried out in 1717, and presented by the painter like works of reception to the royal Académie of painting. It is received with the Academy, which especially creates for him the kind of the gallant festival . The table is exposed today to the Musée of Louvre. In 1718, Watteau did itself of it an appreciably different counterpart, entitled Embarquement for Cythère , exposed today to the castle of Charlottenbourg, with Berlin.
