Pilates
The method Pilates , sometimes simply called Pilates , is a system of physical exercise developed in the beginning of the 20th century by Joseph Pilates, German emigrant with the the United States. He wrote two books on his method: " Return to Life through Contrology" and " Your Health: In Corrective System off Exercising That Revolutionizes the Entire Field off Physical Education" .
Pilates called its method Contrology , in reference to the way in which the method encourages the use of the spirit to control the muscles. It is a program making it possible to rebalance the muscles of the body, while concentrating on the principal muscles which intervene in the balance of the body and the maintenance of the spinal column. In this method, one tries to reinforce the too weak muscles and to relax the too tended muscles, one also takes account of the rate/rhythm of breathing during the execution of the movements, of the good alignment of the column and the maintenance of a good general posture.
