Pilar Rahola

Pilar Rahola (Barcelona, October 21st 1958) is a Journaliste, writer E and political Femme Catalan.

Biography

Pilar Rahola is resulting from a republican family and antifascist and some members of his family were famous politicians: Father Rahola, Minister for the Navy of the Republic; Frederic Rahola, the first Syndic of Greuges (lawyer of people) of the Generalitat de Catalunya. She is married and has three children, two of them are adopted, one of Barcelona, the other of Siberia.

Rahola is doctor in Philosophie Catalan and Spanish of the Université of Barcelona. It published various books in Catalan and Castillan and wrote articles for the newspapers El País , in Spain; Nación in Argentinian and the Diario de América with the the United States. She also works for television and gave university conferences.

Of 1987 with 1990, it was director of the Catalan publisher Pòrtic , and as journalist, it gave an account of some significant events: the war between the Érythrée and the Ethiopia, the War of Balkans, the War of the Gulf, the Fall of the Berlin Wall, etc

As politicking, it is the only member of Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya with the Spanish Congrès with 5th and 6th legislatures, and vice-mayor of Barcelona. It also took part at boards of inquiry, especially those which are related to the political Corruption like the Comisión Roldán.

In 1996, it gives up Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya to join Àngel Colom and Joan Laporta in a new party “Partit per Independència”, but after their fiasco, it decides to be devoted to journalism and the literature.
