Pije

The pije is a language kanak north, spoken per less than 200 speakers (1996) New Caledonians. It is classified in the power station-Eastern branch Austronesian of the Langues austronésiennes. Following the example nemi, Fwâi and Jawe, he is spoken on the commune of Hienghène (2600 inhabitant for 1068 km ²; that is to say 10 times surface of Paris). Its survival is extremely threatened.
