Pigna is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Corse and the Corsica area .
Geography
History
The village of Pigna saw the birth of Davia Franceschini, young girl removed by the barbaresque pirates at the XVII century in the plain of Curbara. It was high in a Moroccan family near to the Sultan, it was noticed by this one which in made his principal wife. She thus became Impératrice of Morocco. She did not forget her native village to which she made gift of Moroccan seats encrusted with mother-of-pearl for the church parroissiale.

Personalities related to the commune
The village of Pigna, which did not have any more that 50 permanent inhabitants in the annéees 1960, was instigated by Toni CASALONGA, former student of Beautiful arts (Paris, Rome) which created there the Co-operative of Craftsmen of Art CORSICADA, which supported the installataion several craftsmen in the village (potter, engraver, organ builder, violin maker, etc). He is also the initiator of musical activities which led to the construction of an Auditorium of 120 places.
In addition to painting and the sculpture Toni has activities of scenographer intervening in several countries.
