Pietro Chiari

Pietro Chiari , born the December 25th 1712 with Brescia - died the August 31st 1785 in the same city) was a Dramaturge, Romancier and Librettiste Italy N.

Belonging to the order of the Jesuits until his abandonment of the congregation in 1747, the Chiari abbot was, of this date until 1762, with the title of poet of court of the duke François III of Modena, with Venice, without however occupying of public office. It wrote, during this period, nearly an about sixty Comédie S which often led it to be opposed, at least until 1761, with its rival Goldoni. Nourishing a deep antipathy at the place of Molière, the Chiari abbot put the Comédie larmoyante at the mode in Italy under the name of commedia fiebile .

He directed the Gazzetta Veneta of 1761 to 1762, date on which he turned over to finish his life in his birthplace.

One also owes him of many booklets of opera.
