Pietro Antonio Fiocco

Pietro Antonio Fiocco (or Pier Antonio or Pierre-Antoine ) was born with Venice the February 3rd 1654 and died in Brussels the September 3rd 1714.

If we are unaware of very his childhood and of its musical formation in Italy, it is known that it had early been made a name in the courses European, since the Consul of Holland the fact of coming to Amsterdam. In 1681 appears the booklet of a Helena rapita da Paride , for which Fiocco composes some parts. The same year, it composes a Prolog for the Alceste of Lully sung to Hanover.

At the summer 1682, it goes to Brussels to enter to the service of prince Eugene-Alexandre of Tour and Taxis. Named choirmaster of the Notre-Dame church of the Victories, it starts to compose of religious works, of which Messe S and Motet S.

As of 1694, it takes an active share in the establishment of the Opéra of the Quay to the Hay, first public opera house of Brussels. He will be the principal director besides and will then pass for it to the direction Théâtre of the Currency as of his opening in 1700.
