Pierre of the Hillock

Pierre of the Hillock carried out in 1378. Secretary of Charles II of Navarre.

He was also the right-hand man of king de Navarre, Charles II the Bad one entrusted to his secretary his most secret thoughts.

In 1378, Pierre of the Hillock was stopped in the tower of Bernay in possession of documents of more compromising for king de Navarre and itself. In spite of a coded writing, it was possible to decipher the messages. Among them, appeared a letter addressed by Pierre of the Hillock to the captain of Beaumont-the-Roger, this one encouraged the captain to fight until death if it were needed. The second document was a copy of the Traité of Clarendon signed in 1370.

Pierre of the Hillock was taken along to the Prison of the Temple, was questioned, it attested exactitude of the consents made by Jacques de Rue concerning the negociations made by king de Navarre with the England, but stated to be unaware of the plots concerning the two attempted murders on the person of Charles V of France.

The June 16th 1378, it appeared before the Large Room of the Parliament with Jacques de Rue and some accomplices of king de Navarre. He was condemned to died and decapitated to the Markets. Like Jacques de Rue, his head was planted on a spade with the Gibet de Montfaucon. The arms and the legs were exhibés on eight brackets installed with the principal doors of Paris.
