Pierre of Roubaix
Pierre of Roubaix (born in Roubaix in 1415 - deceased in its castle in Roubaix on June 7th 1493) was a lord reigning on the town of Roubaix. It succeeded in 1449 his father, Jean of Roubaix.
It made pass the town of a small town to one of the most prosperous cities of the area, in particular by obtaining the 1er October 1464 a charter on behalf of the Bourguignon state guaranteeing a privilege to him to exert the trade and manufacture. It accumulated by this skew a considerable fortune.
Pierre of Roubaix was also a large traveller, who went to Rome, with Jerusalem, went to fight the infidels with Carthage etc
With its death, it had only one girl, Isabeau of Roubaix which succeeded to him. After him, the elder male branch of the " family; of Roubaix" dies out and the domination of the stronghold passes, by the marriage of Isabeau with Jacques of Luxembourg and by the marriage of their Isabelle oldest daughter of Luxembourg with Jean III of Melun to the family of Melun. the downward one of Jean III, Jeanne of Melun carried the title of Marchioness of Roubaix which it transmitted to the Maison of Line by her marriage with Lamoral Ier de Ligne, First Prince de Ligne, and currently the Meurillon family.
