Pierre de Gondi
Pierre de Gondi, cardinal of Retz (1533-1616) was a bishop of Paris.
Born with Lyon, and brother of the marshal of Retz, it was protected by Catherine de Médicis.
He became successively:
- bishop of Langres (1565),
- bishop of Paris (1570),
- chancellor and large chaplain of Elisabeth of Austria (woman of Charles IX),
- cardinal (1587).
It fulfills various missions with Rome under Henri III and Henri IV.
