Pierre de Chauvin, Sieur de Tonnetuit , French calvinist, born with Dieppe.

Pierre de Chauvin solicited and obtained a commission of the king Henri IV, on the condition of founding a colony and to establish the Catholic religion there. Of Chauvinistic none of its promises held, and dealt exclusively with the milked fur skins with Tadoussac, in 1599.

François Gravé of the Bridge, also called of Pontgravé, which accompanied it, went up the river until Three-Rivers. Pierre de Chauvin died in 1601.
