Pierre Xavier Emmanuel Ruffey

(Pierre Xavier) Emmanuel Ruffey , the March 19th 1851 with Dijon, deceased the December 14th 1928, is a French soldier during the First World War.

Raise Polytechnique (1871 - 1873), then of the École of application of artillery and genius of Fontainebleau (1873 - 1875).

It passes to the 3 {{E}} Régiment of Artillery in 1879, then with the 8 {{E}} in 1881. He became major in 1891. In 1893, it joined the 1 {{er}} Régiment of Artillery, then in 1895 order the group of assembled batteries with Madagascar. Assistant professor of artillery tactic at the University of war in 1896. It takes the direction of the course the following year.

He became chief of the 9 {{E}} Régiment of Artillery in 1901. He was chief of staff of the 17 {{E}} Army corps of the October 12th 1903 with the June 24th 1906. It orders the 27e brigade (June 24th 1906 - March 19th 1910) and the 36 {{E}} Division of Infantry (March 19th 1910 - June 18th 1912).

It was ordering 13 {{E}} Army corps of the June 18th 1912 until the October 30th 1913 and became member of the Superior council of the War and ordering III {{E}} Armée with mobilization the October 30th 1913.

With the declaration of war, it is with the head of III {{E}} Armée , but it is replaced before the Bataille of the Marne the August 30th of the same year, victim of the first high dismissal of the general Joffre. With this occasion, it writes a very virulent report against the generals Joffre and Maunoury.

It does not order thereafter any more. Responsible for various inspections in 1914, it takes the head of the 11 {{E}} Military region in Nantes the March 18th 1915 and remains in this function until the February 16th 1917. It passed to the framework of reserve the 1 {{er}} March 1917.

It was buried with the Invalides.
