Pierre Womé
---- Pierre Womé is a Cameronian football player born on March 26th, 1979 with Douala (Cameroun).
It takes its first steps of professional footballer in Cameroun and will play then a major part of its career in Italy, of 1996 to 2002 then of 2004 to 2006. Since these beginnings, and with share with the Canon Yaounde and the Bologna FC, Womé changed club each season with the liking of the loans and tranferts. This constant movement obviously did not facilitate its integration in national team, where it however to date gained there only the titles of its career in 2000 and 2002, with the Coupe of Africa of the Nations and with the Olympic Games of Sydney in 2000. This powerful and general-purpose side defender however played in some of the largest European clubs, leaving finally the Inter Milan this summer to join the German club of the Werder of Bremen at the 27 years age. He was regarded as the person in charge of the not-qualification of Cameroun to the World cup 2006 by missing a penalty (sending the ball on the post) at the last minute by the last match by qualification vis-a-vis in Egypt (final score 1-1 whereas the victory gave the qualification to its country): victim of threats, it refuses to return in selection until its safety is again assured.
