Pierre Victor Palma Cayet
Pierre Victor Palma Cayet , historian and French controversist, born in 1525 with Montrichard in Touraine, died in 1610.
He studied under Pierre Ramus, embraced like him it Calvinisme, became minister Protestant, and stuck to Catherine of Bourbon, sister of Henri IV. He was brought back to the Catholicisme by the Cardinal Duperron, abjured in 1595, was made order priest in 1600, and was named professor of Hebrew to the Collège of Navarre, with Paris.
One has of him:
- of the works of controversy, forgotten as of the 19th century;
- a history of the Navarre entitled: Heptaméron of Navarride , translated from Spanish into French worms, Paris, 1602;
- extraordinary History of Doctor Faust , translated of German, 1603, work which made it show to be devoted to the magic;
- Chronology novennaire, history of the wars of Henri IV of 1589 to 1598 , Paris, 1606;
- septenary Chronology (1598 with 1604) , Paris, 1609.
These the last two works, invaluable for the history, were reprinted in the collections of the Memories relating to the French history .
