Pierre Véry
Pierre Véry , born with Belon oyster the November 17th 1900 and died in Paris the October 12th 1960, is a French writer.
Author of detective novels, it also wrote many works for youth. Its most famous novel is probably red Goupi-Hands whose adaptation by Jacques Becker in 1943 was one of greatest cinematographic successes of the Occupation.
Biography
It is born in 1900 in the farm from Couret in Bellon close to Aubeterre-on-Drone in Charente. His/her father is mathematics professor and his/her mother tells him marvellous stories. He saw his the first twelve years there, between Jules Verne and Thomas Mayne-Reid, Erckmann-Chatrian and Onésime Reclus. These Charente-native landscapes will form the decorations of Stray Pont , of red Goupi-Hands , the Métamorphoses .
After Condé-sur-Noireau and Angouleme, where he is high-school pupil, here in 1913 with the boarding school of Sainte-Marie of Meaux, where he creates the secret society of Scanty-Capon and of which he will make the framework of the Disparus from Saint-Agil . At the same time, his/her parents settle 111 rue Lauriston in Paris.
Several small trades later, like some cycle races and attempts at round the world tour with his friend Pierre Béarn, Pierre Véry opens in 1924 the Gallery of the Zodiac, a bookstore of occasion 52 rue Monsieur- the-Prince in Paris. Until 1932, date on which it resells the bookstore with Pierre Béarn, it sees passing many writers, in particular those which attend street of Odéon the House of the friends of the book or Shakespeare and Company: Andre Gide, Valery Larbaud. He touches also literary journalism, for the Literary journal and Paris Journal , and continues to write for itself.
In 1930, it receives the first price of the best novel of adventures for the Will of Basil Crookes . In 1938, the general public earlier discovers it with the cinema with the adaptation of the Disparus from Saint-Agil appeared three years. In its novels as in its scenarios, the marvellous côtoie fear in a particular way.
He lives street of Boccador in the Années 1950 and dies suddenly of an heart attack in 1960. He regularly came to spend a few weeks of his holidays to Saint-Romain, where his/her father lived part of the year. Of his marriage with Jeanne Rouvin, Pierre Véry had three children: Madeline, Dominique and Christmas; this last, celebrates cinematographic operator and promoter in France of the process steadycam , activates himself so that the memory of the work of his/her father remains long-lived.
