Pierre Theodore Virlet d\' Aoust
Pierre Theodore Virlet d' Aoust is a geologist born with Avesnes-on-Helpe the May 18th 1800. He died in 1894.
He belonged to the Expédition of Morée at the end of the Guerre of Greek independence. It was charged by the governor Kapodistrias with carrying out the plans for a Canal of Corinth
He discovered sites mycéniens on Syros and Skópelos.
He travelled to America and proposed a project of Canal of Panamá.
