Pierre Sliding gauge (mathematician)

Pierre Sliding gauge (C. 1580 - 1637) born with Ornans, in the Doubs, was a French mathematician. He is the inventor of the instrument of measurement which bears its name: the sliding gauge.

It occupied various stations in the administration.
He invents in 1631 an instrument which makes it possible to make precise measurements length (see discussion) that he describes in his work Construction, the use and the properties of the new quadrant of mathematics published the same year.
