Pierre Rigoulot , born in Paris in 1944, is a Historien French, editor association of the Cahiers of social history .
Become these last years one of the French specialists in the North Korea, it published in 2000, with the refugee North-Korean Kang Chol-Hwan, the first testimony in Occident on the camps North-Korean ( Aquariums of Pyongyang , Robert Laffont, work translated into six languages). It founds in same time a Committee of assistance to the population North-Korean and publishes in 2003 North Korea, State hooligan (Buchet-Chastel). Its reflection on the camps led to the publication in 2000 of the Siècle of the camps (JC Lattès), with the Belgian historian Joel Kotek.
Very committed on the questions of the “communist Totalitarianism”, Pierre Rigoulot collaborates in the black Livre of Communism , directed by Stephan Courtois, for the chapter on the North Korea. In the polemic which followed the publication of the book, it has with the historian Ilios Yannakakis published a work which presents the debate on the questions that raised the black Book of Communism .
Attached to the American intervention in Iraq, in March 2003, it will go to the site and publish notebooks of voyage. In same time, very affected by the Anti-Americanism, it publishes a work noticed on the subject and Co-directs with the journalist Michel Taubmann a collective work on the state of Iraq, one year after the intervention of the Anglo-American forces. Recently, it launched out in the study of the cuban mode and published an assessment on the cuban revolution: Sunset on Havana (Flammarion, 2007).
