Pierre Restaut
Pierre Restaut (1696-1764) was a French grammairien.
Born with Beauvais, he was the son of a cloth merchant. He was initially in charge of lessons particular to the Louis-the-Large college of , then was made receive lawyer with the Parliament.
He left some legal Mémoires , but the work which made its reputation its its Principes general and reasoned of French Grammar (1730), which constituted the first elementary handbook made up for the study of French. Adopted by the University of Paris and for the education of the children of France, it was shortened by the author himself (1732), then increased of a treaty of versification, and known nine editions of living of the author, the last going back to 1819.
Restaut revives also the fourth edition of the Traité French orthography in the shape of dictionary , known under the name of Dictionnaire of Poitiers , by Charles Roy, foreman of printing works, and translated of Latin the Monarchie of Solipses , satire against the Jésuite S.
