Pierre Pomet
Pierre Pomet is a general storekeeper French, born in 1658 with Paris and dead the November 18th 1699 in this same city.
After having been in training, he travels in Italy, Germany, Great Britain and Holland. He returns to Paris where he opens a store of drugs.
He acquires a great reputation quickly. He gives soon courses to explain the manufacture of his products. He regularly publishes a catalog of drugs simple or made up of his vast collection as well as the description of sound Cabinet of curiosities. He makes appear in 1694, the general Histoire of drugs, treating Plante S, animals and minerals, etc , illustrated of more than 400 figures.
The publication of the work is somewhat difficult, of the people having stolen some of its notes and its drawings. In spite of an legal action, it does not obtain repair of this damage.
Its work is regarded as most complete and surest of its time. It is translated in several languages of which the German and the English.
