Pierre Poinsot de Chansac , baron of Chansac, born with Châlons (Saône-et-Loire) the February 7th 1764, general French.

Become Baron of the Empire in 1808, the Poinsot general went to the Armée with Italy the November 28th of this year. From return to Paris the November 13rd 1809, it passed to the Armée with Spain the December 19th, and belonged to the 2nd body of that of Portugal, the June 20th 1810. Put of availability the July 2nd 1811, it organized 4 squadrons in the 6th military division the January 2nd 1812, served the August 11th in the 11th body of the large-army, and obtained a command in the 2° body of cavalry the April 12th 1813.
Prisoner of war some time afterwards, it returned, in June 1814, in France, where it ceased being in activity on September 1st. Admitted with the retirement the December 24th, it was placed at the disposal of the general Margaron to be employed with the deposit of cavalry of Amiens the May 28th 1815. October 1st, the Poinsot general returned in the state of retirement, became honorary lieutenant-general the March 8th 1818, was included/understood, like Brigadier, within the framework of reserve of the general staff the March 22nd 1831, once again obtained his retirement on May 1st 1832, and died the July 30th 1833. Its name is registered on the Triumphal arch of the Star, side Northern.
