Pierre Pierrard

Pierre Pierrard , born the February 26th 1920 with Roubaix, is a French historian.

He makes known himself, in 1965, by his thesis of doctorate devoted with the working Vie in Lille under the Second Empire .

He was the historian of the working world and the Catholicism. He joined Mgr Jacques Gaillot in his combat for a Catholicism closer to the poor and the marginal ones. He supports the efforts of the episcopate to approach the Jewish community.

Regular chronicler of the newspaper the Cross, he was also professor with the catholic Institut of Paris and person in charge of the historical section of the Larousse editions.

In 1984, he is prize winner of the catholic Grand Prix of literature for his work the Church and the workmen .

He is deceased following an infarction Thursday December 8th 2005
