Pierre Péan

Pierre Péan born in the Maine-et-Loire in 1938 is a journalist of French investigation.

He was Journaliste during fourteen years and wants to be from now on investigating.

The investigating jounalist

Pierre Péan published a score of works since 1975. Some were successes, like TF1, a capacity , wrote in collaboration with Christophe Nick, or the black Money or a French youth. François Mitterrand. 1934-1947 , which was its best-seller, and of which he regretted certain interpretations published in the press, that he considers contrary with his demonstration and too much severe for François Mitterrand. He was explained some in last wills, last combat, last sufferings .

He is particularly interested, without limiting itself to it, with the political scandals (articles on the '' business of diamonds '' of Giscard for the Canard Enchaîné ; African Businesses , on the Gabon, country symbol of the underground Franco-African relations and racketeers; V , on the first scandal of Elf; black Money , on corruption in the countries of the South) and with the choked businesses ( African Handling , on the attack against the plane of ATU). Its biographical test on Jacques Foccart was worth a lawsuit to him, which it gained.

Since the beginning of the years 1990, it diversified its investigations. Some carry on historical subjects and either of topicality: Mysterious Doctor Martin , biography of one of the largest French plotters of the XXe century, related on the Hood and the activists of French Algeria; the Extremist , on Switzerland François Genoud, executor of Hitler and financier of certain terrorist groups; the Diabolic one of Caluire , on the denunciation of Jean Moulin; Control on Algiers , dedicated work with the secret reasons for the forwarding against Algiers, in 1830.

Its works were worth to him sharp answers on behalf of certain people concerned, and of the eulogistic comments in part of the press. Nouvel Observateur of March 15th, 2001 written in this connection: “He wants to be investigating. And investigator only. Let us say that in any case it belongs to a rare species: that which takes time before writing. Péan derogated forever from its method. ”

Black furies, lying white. Rwanda, 1990-1994

Its lying work, Black furies, white. Rwanda, 1990-1994 is devoted to the charges carried against the French policy with the Rwanda, which it attempts to refute, and with the indicters, to which it allots bonds with the patriotic Front Rwandan (FPR). Pierre Péan was shown by his contradictors to have written a book “on order” with an only aim of minimizing the French responsibilities in the Rwandan genocide. This interpretation seems constant by the daily newspaper the Libre Belgique (December 1st, 2005), which, itself, is shown of partiality by Mr. Péan in his book.

She on the other hand is denounced by the Africanists André Guichaoua and Stephen Smith, which defended lying Noires furies, white as a book bringing of useful revelations on the networks pro-FPR and of the additional details on the assassination of Juvénal Habyarimana in spite of “its factual errors and its drifts “ethnicistes" ”. Pierre Péan answered criticisms formulated against this book and published in Le Monde by a letter with this daily newspaper, published in the edition dated January 12th, 2006. In this same work, it carries out the dismantling of the charges carried against France, recutting in certain points the theses of the historian Bernard Lugan and those of Robin Philpot and Charles Onana (journalists of investigations which ran up against criticisms of the partsans FPR).

Beginning October 2006, S.O.S Racism, of the survivors of the Genocide in Rwanda, supported by association IBUKA, deposited a complaint against Pierre Péan and the editions Fayard for racial slandering and incentive with racial discrimination after the publication of the book Noires furies, white lying. Rwanda, 1990-1994 . Pierre Péan commented on: “Vis-a-vis ridiculous charges, silence is essential” (AFP of October 6th and Le Monde , October 12th, 2006). The MRAP and the other organizations antiracists however did not join this complaint.

It resides in the town of Bouffémont.
