Pierre Nozzle
Pierre Bec is a linguist French born with Paris in 1921. He was professor with the Université of Poitiers, specialist in literature and linguistics occitane. He was also writer occitan under the name of Pèir (E) Nozzle.
Youth and formation
Pierre Bec was born from a creole mother and a Gascon father. He passes his childhood to the Cazères-on-Garonne. After its baccalaureat, it obtains a German license and an Italian license. He teaches these languages in Paris and also studies with the Sorbonne, with the École of the high studies and with the Institut of phonetics and specializes in linguistic Romance, in particular in occitan old and modern. It supports two theses in 1959.
University career
After his two theses, Pierre Bec is appointed university lecturer then professor emeritus with the Université of Poitiers where it will occupy this station juqu' with his retirement in 1989. He was also director of the Center of higher learning of medieval civilization and chair Institut of studies occitanes during eighteen years. He in particular published in 1997, with the Beautiful Letters, the Century of gold of poetry Gascon (1550-1650), then, recently the poetic Tournament . Its Manuel practices Romance philology and its Langue occitane (collection Which do I know?) are references.
Career of writer
As a writer occitan, it is known under the name of Pèir (E) Nozzle, and published poems, collections of news, of which Lo Hiu Tibat (which tells its adventures of prisoner of war in Austria), as well as a novel, Sebastian .
